Robert Lulgjuraj suspended his campaign for Michigan’s 10th Congressional District after concluding he could not win the Republican nomination following President Donald Trump’s endorsement of Michael Bouchard. The Aug. 4 primary will continue without Lulgjuraj.
Republican Robert Lulgjuraj announced that he was suspending his campaign for Michigan’s 10th Congressional District, with less than three weeks remaining before the Aug. 4 primary. He said Trump’s endorsement of fellow Republican Michael Bouchard left him without a viable path to the nomination, and that campaign polling and data reinforced his decision.
Lulgjuraj said he disagreed with Trump’s endorsement but continued to support the president. Bouchard, Justin Kirk and Steffan Demetropoulos remained in the Republican primary; Eric Chung, Tim Greimel and Christina Hines were seeking the Democratic nomination. The seat is open because Rep. John James is running for governor.
