Rep. Ralph Norman endorsed Sen. Darline Graham after criticizing President Trump’s involvement in her South Carolina Republican primary. Graham won the nomination and is set to face Democrat Annie Andrews in November.
Norman said he would support Graham, the Republican nominee, after previously calling Trump’s involvement in the primary “shocking.” Norman had also agreed that Trump’s endorsement made a difference in the race and appeared to suggest voters could write him in, according to the article.
Trump recruited, endorsed and campaigned for Graham after her brother, Sen. Lindsey Graham, died. Gov. Henry McMaster appointed her to fill the vacancy, and she won the Republican nomination after advancing from an early-August runoff with Norman. She faces Democrat Annie Andrews in November; the seat is considered solidly Republican.
