A Texas Public Opinion Research poll found James Talarico leading Ken Paxton by six points in the Texas U.S. Senate race, 48% to 42%, with Election Day a little over two months away. The poll also found Republicans leading in most other statewide races.
A Texas Public Opinion Research poll conducted August 21–23 among 1,000 likely Texas voters found Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico ahead of Republican Ken Paxton, 48% to 42%; 7% were undecided, and the margin of error was 3.3 percentage points. Talarico led among independent voters, while Paxton led among white voters and voters age 55 and older.
The poll showed Republican Gov. Greg Abbott ahead of Gina Hinojosa in the governor’s race and Republican candidates leading in the attorney general, lieutenant governor, comptroller, agriculture commissioner, land commissioner and railroad commissioner races.
