State Rep. La Shawn Ford declared victory in the Democratic primary for Illinois’ 7th District. With 78% of estimated votes counted, returns showed him leading with 23.1%, ahead of Chicago Treasurer Melissa Conyears-Ervin at 19.6% and Anthony Driver at 11.5%. Ford told supporters that winning the nomination was not enough and that the work continued. He will face Republican nominee Chad Koppie in November.
