The Christopher Street Project withdrew its endorsement of Maine Senate nominee Graham Platner and urged him to leave the race after a woman accused him of sexual assault. Platner denied the allegation, while several Democratic lawmakers also withdrew endorsements or called for him to drop out.
POLITICO reported that Jenny Racicot, who dated Platner, accused him of entering her home uninvited in 2021 and forcing her to have sex after she told him to stop. Platner denied the allegation in a social media video, calling it serious but false, and said he was reflecting on the best path forward for his campaign. His spokesperson had not responded to The Advocate’s request for comment at the time of publication.
The Christopher Street Project rescinded its endorsement and called on Platner to leave the race.
