Sen. Chris Coons and Rep. Sarah McBride announced reelection campaigns days apart, outlining priorities for Delaware voters. Their seats are the only federal offices on the state’s 2026 ballot, though the candidate field remains open until the filing deadline.
Coons and McBride announced their campaigns around the same weekend. At a June 16 rally, McBride said she would seek more investment in Delaware, including for public schools, and would push for universal child care and nationwide paid family and medical leave. The article also notes her record of introducing, co-leading and cosponsoring bills, including the bipartisan Flexible Leave Act.
Coons said his priorities, if reelected, would include opportunity, security and justice, and called for ending tariffs that he said have raised costs on goods and services. As of June 16, businessman Earl Cooper was the only challenger filed against McBride; Cooper said he would prioritize small business, economic growth, jobs and utility rates. The filing deadline is July 14.
