U.S. Sen. Coons of Delaware received, then redirected donations from contractor who’s now in prison for illegal contributions

Sen. Chris Coons said his campaign redirected $18,700 in donations from Martin Kao and his wife to Delaware charities after learning of Kao’s crimes. WHYY also reported that Coons had received the donations in earlier election cycles and that the campaign’s charitable contributions were not publicly announced.
