Voter records show that four of the eight candidates for Wisconsin’s 7th Congressional District recently had voting addresses outside the district, including two who also had Florida registrations. The candidates or their campaigns offered explanations for some of the moves, while one campaign did not respond to a request for comment.
Records show that Republican candidates Michael Alfonso and Paul Wassgren had active Florida voter registrations as well as Wisconsin registrations. Alfonso registered at a Wisconsin address ten days before Donald Trump endorsed him; Wassgren registered in Ashland shortly before filing to run and had voted by mail in Florida five times through 2024. His campaign described him as a fifth-generation Ashland native, while Alfonso’s campaign did not respond to requests for comment.
Democrat Ginger Murray and Republican Jessi Ebben had voted outside the district before changing their registration addresses. Murray said she moved to New Lisbon in 2016 and described her work and ties to northern Wisconsin. Ebben’s campaign said she and her family moved to Stanley in early 2025 to be closer to family. The article also identifies four other candidates whose registration addresses had not recently changed or were already within the district.
