The Senate Ethics Committee dismissed a complaint against Sen. Ruben Gallego, saying it found no evidence that his actions violated federal law or Senate rules. Gallego welcomed the finding, while Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, who brought the complaint, disputed his characterization of the allegations.
The Senate Ethics Committee dismissed a complaint against Sen. Ruben Gallego concerning campaign-finance violations and potential sexual misconduct. In a letter dated June 26, the committee said its investigation found no evidence that Gallego violated federal law, Senate rules or related standards of conduct, and praised his cooperation. Rep. Anna Paulina Luna had brought the complaint in April.
Gallego said the dismissal reaffirmed his view that the accusations were conspiracies and called on Luna to apologize. Luna responded on social media that the allegations were not conspiracy theories and said reporters would eventually publish Gallego’s texts. The article also recounts that Gallego regretted having his friendship with former Rep. Eric Swalwell cloud his judgment about rumors concerning Swalwell, who resigned amid sexual assault and misconduct allegations he denied.
