Representative Ro Khanna said he is weighing whether to run for president in 2028, calling it a family decision. He also outlined economic, technology and foreign-policy priorities he says Democrats should address.
During a discussion with former Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd at the Asia Society, Khanna said about 20 Democrats were considering a presidential run and perhaps 10 or 12 would enter the race. He said he might run or support someone else, and that he intended to take part in the debate over the country’s future.
Khanna argued that Democrats need an economic program that reaches communities affected by the loss of industrial jobs and should bring investment and jobs to places excluded from the gains of the new economy. He also called for workers to have a stronger role in decisions about artificial intelligence and for US foreign policy to regain other countries’ trust.
