Darline Graham advanced from South Carolina’s special Republican Senate primary and will face Rep. Ralph Norman in a runoff. The contest follows the death of her brother, Lindsey Graham, whose Senate term she was appointed to complete.
With about 90% of the vote counted, Darline Graham had 33%, Ralph Norman 23.5% and Russell Fry 20%; former Gov. Mark Sanford was in fourth place with 15%. Graham and Norman are set to meet in the Aug. 25 runoff.
Gov. Henry McMaster appointed Graham to serve the remaining months of her brother’s term. President Donald Trump encouraged and endorsed her bid for a full term. The runoff winner will face Democrat Annie Andrews in the general election.
