James Talarico defeated Jasmine Crockett in the Texas Democratic primary for U.S. Senate. With all but one county and 85% of polling locations reporting, Talarico had 53.1% of the vote and Crockett had 45.6%; the Associated Press called the race for Talarico. He will face the winner of the May 26 Republican runoff between incumbent Sen. John Cornyn and Ken Paxton in November.
Voting was delayed in Dallas, El Paso and Williamson counties. In Dallas, a judge ordered polling locations to remain open late, and the Texas Supreme Court ordered certain ballots cast after 7 p.m. to be separated. Crockett’s campaign said Tuesday night it planned to sue over the Dallas voting issues; she conceded the race Wednesday morning.
