Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton defeated Senator John Cornyn in the Republican Senate primary by nearly 2-to-1. Paxton credited President Donald Trump’s endorsement, while the report said Cornyn argued he had supported Trump’s agenda more than 99% of the time. Paxton will face Democratic nominee James Talarico, who has focused his campaign on corruption allegations against Paxton; Paxton was impeached by the Texas House and acquitted by the Texas Senate.
