Darline Graham Nordone was appointed to serve the rest of her brother Lindsey Graham’s Senate term after his death. A special primary is planned to select a candidate for the November ballot.
Darline Graham Nordone and her brother, Sen. Lindsey Graham, were close throughout their lives, she said in a 2015 interview. After their parents died, Lindsey became her legal guardian. His office said a preliminary medical examiner’s report attributed his death to an aortic dissection related to artery hardening.
Nordone will serve the remainder of her brother’s term, which expires Jan. 3, 2027. The article says a special primary must be held by Aug. 11, candidates can file from July 21 through July 28, and a runoff would be held Aug. 25 if no candidate receives 50% of the vote. Annie Andrews will face the eventual winner in November.
