Rep. Randy Feenstra’s campaign for Iowa governor received an in-person campaign appearance from former Gov. Terry Branstad and launched a negative ad targeting Republican rival Zach Lahn. Lahn disputed the ad’s portrayal of his investment and responded with a campaign post.
Branstad appeared at a Feenstra campaign house party, where he praised Feenstra as “a humble, hard working Iowan.” Feenstra said he expected to win enough support in the June primary to secure the nomination. If no candidate reaches the required 35% threshold, delegates would choose the nominee at a later state convention.
Feenstra’s campaign ad criticized Lahn for investing $1 million in a company the ad described as a sex-toy company. Lahn’s campaign said he invested when the company focused on medical devices and left before it sold products for sexual pleasure. Lahn responded on Facebook by saying the ad confirmed his campaign was winning and that he would invest more to defeat Feenstra.
