A Texas Southern University poll of 500 Black Texans who had voted in at least one election since 2022 found that 79% support Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico and 12% support Republican opponent Ken Paxton. The poll also found that 77% agreed Democrats take Black voters for granted; 7% said they were less likely to vote in November because Jasmine Crockett lost the primary.
The poll was conducted July 27 through Aug. 2 and reported a margin of error of plus or minus 4.38%. A separate Texas Southern poll found Talarico leading Paxton 47% to 45% among all voters, with different results among Black, Latino and white voters.
