Sen. Tommy Tuberville says he will introduce President Donald Trump at a Friday rally in Mobile, where Sen. Katie Britt and other Alabama Republicans are expected to appear. The rally coincides with a planned groundbreaking for a $4 billion bridge partly financed with federal funds.
Tuberville said he will introduce Trump at the Mobile rally, part of a series of events intended to boost Republican candidates. He described the visit as a big day for the region and said Trump was spending time in a state he had won, rather than worrying about candidates’ election prospects. The same day, federal officials are expected to celebrate the groundbreaking of a new bridge estimated to cost $4 billion, partly financed with federal money.
Britt confirmed she would attend and speak. Barry Moore and Rhett Marques were also expected to attend, while Jerry Carl said he would be there and hoped to thank Trump publicly for the bridge project and for helping bring Space Force to Huntsville. Trump is scheduled to speak at the University of South Alabama’s Mitchell Center, which has a capacity of 10,000.
