At his Senate Homeland Security nomination hearing, Markwayne Mullin became emotional while recounting how Donald Trump supported Mullin’s family after his son suffered a severe brain injury. Mullin said Trump’s calls, visit and offer of a plane helped the family during his son’s recovery.
During his Senate Homeland Security nomination hearing, Mullin told Ron Johnson that he was trying not to cry as he described his son Jim’s traumatic brain injury and why he considers Trump a friend. Mullin said Trump offered his plane to help the family reach a rehabilitation center, called regularly and visited Jim in California during the 2020 campaign.
Mullin said that Jim began retaining things after Trump spent time with him, and described the severity of his son’s injury and recovery. Johnson responded that Mullin’s account was a good thing for the American people to hear.
